If you’re a high school senior in Colorado, you’re probably looking for a way to capture your final year of high school with some stunning photos. One of the best ways to do that is to plan a senior session at Rocky Mountain National Park. With its breathtaking scenery and incredible mountain views, this location is the perfect backdrop for your senior photos. But planning a session at Rocky Mountain National Park can be a bit overwhelming, so here’s a guide to help you plan the perfect senior session. I am here to help the process of planning your Rocky Mountain National Park Senior Session. So let’s get started.

Choose Your Photographer

Choosing the right photographer is crucial to the success of your senior session. You want someone who is experienced, creative, and knows how to capture the essence of who you are. Shameless plug…. Me!! In all seriousness you can start by googling for Denver senior photographers or Colorado senior photographers. You can search online, ask for recommendations from friends, or check out social media platforms like Instagram. Look at the photographer’s portfolio to get an idea of their style and see if it matches your vision. Pro tip, I HIGHLY recommend requesting to see a full gallery that was delivered. Often times what you see on their website and social platforms are in their opinion the best of the best photos captured. Which is fine. BUT. Lighting, scenery, etc changes throughout the duration of a session. You NEED to see how they capture a session in its entirety.

Pick a Date

Once you’ve found the perfect photographer, it’s time to pick a date. Keep in mind that Rocky Mountain National Park is a popular destination, so you’ll want to schedule your session well in advance. Make sure to choose a date that works for you and your photographer, and that the weather conditions are favorable. You don’t want to be stuck in a rainstorm or snowstorm during your photo shoot. Rocky Mountain National Park does require reservations as well now. So picking a date and planning ahead is imperative.

Choose Your Outfits

Your outfit choices are a critical component of your senior session. You want to choose outfits that showcase your personality and style while also complementing the natural beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. Consider choosing outfits that are comfortable, weather-appropriate, and that you feel confident in. You can also consider bringing a few different outfit options to switch things up throughout the session. I always offer a complimentary styling session leading up to our session together. What is this? We get on zoom, facetime or phone and we chat about the outfits you have chosen. What accessories to use, what props we can incorporate, shoes, layering, colors, textures, etc. So if you are feeling lost planning your outfits, I am here to help!

Plan Your Location

Rocky Mountain National Park is vast, with countless beautiful locations to choose from. Some are more popular than others. Work with your photographer to plan out a location that takes you to some of the most scenic spots in the park. Some popular locations include Bear Lake, Dream Lake, and Moraine Park. Keep in mind that you may need to purchase a pass to enter the park, so make sure to factor that into your budget.

Have Fun!

The most important part of your senior session is to have fun and enjoy the experience. That is my number one priority! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture this special moment in your life, so don’t stress too much about getting the perfect shot. Trust your photographer and allow them to guide you through the process. Remember, the more relaxed and natural you feel, the better your photos will turn out.

Planning a senior session at Rocky Mountain National Park can be an incredible experience. By choosing the right photographer (cough cough… me), picking a date, selecting your outfits, planning your route, and having fun, you can create some stunning photos that you’ll treasure for years to come. So start planning your session today and capture this special moment in your life with the best Denver senior photographer or Colorado senior photographer you can find.
